What Is Secondary Steel Pipe?

Secondary steel pipe is material that did not meet the producing mill's requirements for prime-grade sale. This may be due to dimensional tolerances, surface imperfections, cosmetic variations, or other physical or chemical characteristics identified during production.

These conditions do not necessarily prevent the pipe from being used successfully in many general construction, bollard, post, or piling applications. However, because secondary pipe can vary from piece to piece, it should be selected only for applications where prime-certified material is not required.
